McCartney wrote the song Freedom in the wake of the 9/11 attacks. On the morning of 11 September 2001 he and
Heather Mills were on an aeroplane waiting to leave New York for England, when terrorists truck the Twin Towers
and all flights were grounded. From his window McCartney could see smoke rising from the towers.
